Resin Coaster Pour

Some of my local students have asked me to put up a video on how to do resin coasters.  These were done step by step showing how to make  these lovely little jewels to use at your house!  They were made with Art Resin, which is a wonderful non toxic epoxy with a long working time (45 minutes).  Pictures of the product and the coaster/trivet set will be added momentarily!  Enjoy!

Pouring: an interesting twist on using acrylics and resin

For the past several months, I've been playing with an interesting twist using acrylic paints and resin.  In some paintings I've used acrylic paints, both fluid and high flow, as well as acrylic inks and in some cases iridescent alcohol inks in my paintings.  This process gives a whole different look with new materials that haven't always been used by artists.  The little 5"X7" above was a resin/acrylic pour on MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard).  These gems are bright, colorful and have a beautiful glass-like surface finish.

Above are various paintings all done with acrylics and ArtResin, an excellent resin which has little smell and a relatively long and comfortable working time of 45 minutes (twice as much as other low toxicity resins).  The last painting in this set is an alcohol ink on aluminum disc finished with a resin pour.  The middle photo of this group is a coaster/trivet set of poured acrylic ink/resin on 1/8' MDF that make a very nice gift!
